About Black Elementary

Florence Black Elementary School was established in 1953 as the first elementary school in Mesquite ISD. The school is named after a cherished teacher, Florence Black, who was known for keeping up with former students through letters, specifically those in the armed services. Today, Florence Black Elementary is home to approximately 650 students and 75 staff members.

We believe that excellence begins here at Black Elementary and we encourage all staff and students to Dream it! Believe it! Achieve it!
